My DDIL requested a rainbow-colored quilt for her baby. I have this very (very!) bright top pieced, but am unsure about the borders. I had originally thought I would piece a border, but I'm afraid it would be rather too busy. I'd sure appreciate your ideas.

In my opinion I think it needs to be a solid border. You have lots of blue so pick a color that there is not a lot of in the quilt maybe try out different ones by laying them next to it and pick the one you like the best.

beautiful!!
I agree, pieced border is not needed. How about each border being a different color that is in the quilt?

I'm a bit quick on hitting the "Send" button before I check what I've written. Sorry about that!

Beautiful job!

How about a solid WHITE border with multicolored binding??

Love the quilt. I think I would go with a solid border (or Moda Marbles) picking up one of the colors, OR I would probably opt for no border and just bind it. I'm of the mind that not all quilts need borders. But that's just me.

one of my favorites is to lay a plain strip. Then using all the scraps cut in 2'' x 2" (or whatever works for size) wide lengths, I make a long strip of pieced fabric. Then I add this border to the plain one and then bind the quilt in a plain piece to accent. Sometimes I use 1.5"x5" strips and have the border go perpendicular with ladder steps going around but it adds 5 inches to each side of the quilt in an easy and colorful manner. It also uses the scraps and can add a lot of zip to the quilt. have fun - If I knew how to draw on this, I would show you. ewesful
