Avatar Picture - Fabric Exchange
#1
jdavis asked me to post a larger picture of my avatar.
This quilt was a fabric exchange between about 13 people in my "Knotty Ladies" group when I lived in Newport OR.
Every month we made up a coordinated pair of certain sized fabrics (about 4x6) for each participating person (same pair for each). After exchanging we went home with 13 different pairs which we made into postage stamp baskets to later put into a quilt. The pairs had to stay together, but we could use either fabric for the background and basket.
After about a year and 1/2 of exchanging and making basket blocks, we got busy making our quilts not showing them to any of the 13 participants. We then showed them at our annual quilt show "Quilts by the Sea" and they were all different and all beautiful!
I won a 1st place on this quilt in "small quilts hand quilted" category and I was so surprised and so proud and so excited.
If anyone is interested in the details of this exchange I would be glad to find the information and share with you. I do have to finish machine quilting a quilt for my son's (36 yrs) birthday to give to him on July 24th. We then are going on a family reunion camping trip on the Oregon coast the 25th through the 31st. After that I can gather the info together and share.
