I ask this as i am almost ready to finish off a quilt using fleece for the backing so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I use a little basting spray to anchor the fleece to the top. I do not use any batting when I use fleece. It does not take a whole lot of quilting, either, because the fleece tends to "stick" to the top on its own. On baby quilts, I usually stitch 3 rows either up and down or across the quilt, then stitch around the inside of the border. It works well and they stand up well for frequent washing.
