Default Back From Romania-Look At This Sewing Machine!

I just returned from a 2 week photography trip vacation through the countryside of Romania. At one of our village stops, I saw this local woman sewing on her treadle sewing machine, making slippers from hand-spun wool yarn, woven into heavy cloth which her husband had boiled and beaten with heavy wooden posts to soften it up. I think she said the machine was a Pfaff, but not sure, my Romanian wasn't that good. Recognize it?

That is what it says on the side of the machine. I didn't know they made Pfaff machines that long ago. Those shoes looking interesting. Did you get a pair?

No, I didn't, but thought about it. They were really heavy wool, and I go barefoot around the house year-round here, so thought I would never wear them.

Interesting! If my neighbors saw me outside with my treadle they would have me taken away! Sometimes I think the simple ways are the best was! Don't get me wrong...I love my electricity and computers but look how pleasant and relaxed she looks! And wouldn't those slippers be great to have??
