Default Barn quilt and Dresden

Its been awhile since I've posted a picture so here's whats going on in Podunk. The first picture is my version of Lori Holts Quilty Barn Along, you can find the instruction the flickr page, if you scroll down you'll find links to all of her blocks. http://www.flickr.com/groups/2183559@N21/. My version is a tad different than what she has planned. Really who can stick to a pattern?! Not me! This quilt is great for orphaned 6.5 blocks.

The second pic is of my own design. I'm calling it Cherry Blossom Marmalade. Cherry for obvious reasons, blossom because the they look like flowers to me and Marmalade because that's the fabric line used in the dresden blades. I took ideas from several different dresdens seen on the vast internet. Not sure how I'll finish, sashing, more applique....who knows but I'm quite thrilled with how its coming along.

And the third has been a fun quilt to make. No rules in this one! I was just using up scraps and it kept growing. It started out as just a HST quilt and then I decided why not add another twist, APPLIQUE! No real rules other than the hst's had to be blue and the flower stems had to be green. Picking the fabrics was easy, just close my eyes and grab from the pile! One more border of blue and she'll be ready to quilt. Hope my ramblings and quilts have inspired you to tackle your own new quilty adventure.

The barn quilt is quilted, I'm in the process of putting the binding on now. Love/hate bindings, love that the quilt is finished, hate all the hand sewing! Hopefully I get it done by the end of the week, today I'm working on the borders for the Scrappy quilt and 2 more dresdens, then I can sit and do hand work after the house chores are finished.

Wow each one is so creative. I just came back from a trip to Iowa and Wisc. my whole goal was to see how many barn quilts I could fine. So your barn quilt reminds me of all the barn quilts. I love it. The other two are really nice too. Thanks for sharing with us

Oh boy! those scallops were an afterthought so...one by one! you can see how it's done here....http://podunkpretties.blogspot.com/2...monday_27.html Making them part of the blade before piecing would have been much easier!
