These look a lot like ones in a Piece o Cake design that I made. I used a neutral background by Mark Lipinski's Home. Most of mine were pink and purple, so I used a very pale lilac.

I can't wait to see the finished quilt. You always do such good work! I think a white background would really make the colors pop. A dark background might give it a dramatic feel...if the colors wouldn't get lost. You should lay some of the pieces out on some background fabrics & take pictures to see how each color works.
