I made a sample block of the snowflake star . It was definitely a fusible web pattern. The fabric would have been too flimsy to really attempt it any other way.
When I make the lap/sofa quilt, I will use more of a bluish gray because that (to me) will look more like a wintery sky.

Dawn: It will be a while before I get time to do the whole thing. I have to put the binding on the baby quilt that I have been working on and find the bluish gray for the background fabric and start the DIL's king size quilt. So sometime in this lifetime I hope :!:

Wow--I didn't know fabric could be made to do that...fusible web or not. I, too, look forward to the quilt. Even if it'll be awhile--it just gives us something to look forward to. :D

I think the fusible web manufacturers would go broke if it wasn't for the tons of that stuff I buy every year! The stuff with the brand name of wonder under makes a lighter weight one than the stuff called heat and bond. Its a littler harder to find though. :-)

Karla, I've seen the same thing done but instead of making the snowflake out of cotton fabric it was done with brushed suede. The effect was absolutely amazing! I think I can find a picture. ...Yes! I found it but it isn't a good picture. My camara was broken at the time. It does give you an idea. In the light the suede is mesmerizing!

Yes, I will have to top stitch mine because the fisng probably wouldn't hold up very well w/out sttiching.

Tiffany those are stunning!
