What great blocks

I have a couple favors to ask- since I am new to this
1) where do you get the patterns
2) could you give us the names of the blocks ? ( I might want to copy a few  LOL)

Thanks

Hi,
I'm in the Spring group and was looking at your blocks they are beautiful. Could you tell me the names of the blocks you used please? I received one F8 that I think would work with the block with the 4 blocks going catty corner across the block especially.

Thanks,
Donna C. Ohio

Sure, hope I can help you out.

I've used the ShooFly block: http://www.quilterscache.com/S/ShooFlyBlock.html (Use a SCANT seam)

Squares within Squares: http://www.quilterscache.com/S/Squar...res2Block.html (Use a SCANT seam)

The one that has two large squares with HSTs is out of the Farmers Wife Sampler - it's called Northern Lights there. It's simple to make. You need 4 - 6 1/2" HSTs (two of focus fabric and two of background) and 8 squares, each 3 1/2". (4 of the focus and 4 of background)
~Then, make 2 four patches.
~Sew the 4 patches to the HSTs (that you've sewn together into a 6.5" square)
~I press away from the 4 patch.
(This is a link to it but I do it slightly differently: http://www.quilterscache.com/N/NorthernLightsBlock.html)

The one that's similar in make up (regarding the HSTs and 4 patches) Is the SAME as the Northern lights one. Just reverse the HSTs.

I also have the Jinny Beyer book that she shows pictures of tons of quilt blocks. I've used the block a day calendar too.

Most of the blocks I make can be re-sized. So if I see a 6" block (I have the Sylvia Bridal Sampler) I just re-jig it to a 12" finished. My math isn't fantastic, so I use blocks with either 4 across, 3 or 2.

Oh - if you get a chance or have the Quiltmaker 100 blocks, I've used them too.

The one that's block #2 for 1000projects is just 2 four patch units (each square is cut at 3.5") and 2 squares cut at 6.5".

Thanks for your help. I forgot about the couple of block books I have that I can look through for blocks. My problem is if it isn't already a 12" block I don't know how to make it a 12" from a smaller size.

These are for the Boomerang 6 Swap. I'm in 2 groups. :) So in 4 months, I get to make 70 blocks.
