Default Butterfly Quilt - Quilted on a Bernina

Before I got my longarm last summer, I quilted all my quilts on my Bernina. I even quilted a queen size quilt on that little machine. It wasn't always a pleasure to do! This simple Butterfly quilt is one of my favorites!

I really hated giving it away. You can see from the pictures that my feathers have come a long way since this quilt. I hope these pictures encourage others to try quilting their own quilts on their Domestic Sewing machine. You can click on the quilt pictures to get a bigger image.
Thanks for looking.

Pretty quilt! I do my FMQ on my Bernina but a big quilt does take some perseverance.

It's beautiful, Debra. Congrats on a great finish. Since I don't have a long arm, I have to use my machine or hand quilt my projects. I haven't tried feathers on the machine yet. Got any tips?

When I first started quilting feathers on my Bernina I did draw them out or use a template. That really got old so I made myself practice on paper every night until I could finally do it. I just kept quilting them on quilts free hand also even though they were far from perfect. One day it just clicked and I finally got it. It took a while. I filled 4 large drawing books with feathers. They are fun to look at now. Reminds me that I will improve.

I love that. What a great quilt. I think it is a wonderful use of a beautiful piece of fabric.
