The first one is a LeMoyne star i believe..the second one, i have no idea. the finished at 10 inches.

and do you know of a way to do the star without setting in the points? Kim

I think the star is a Lemoyne Star. Not sure of the other one.

Yes, you can do the eight-pointed star without set-in points. Unfortunately right as we speak my entire sewing room--actually, my entire house--is packed up because I am moving tomorrow. And then I work 4 straight 12 hour shifts in a row starting Saturday. So it will be at least a week before I can unpack enough to find it, but I have some written out easy-peasy star directions. I just finished a couple of blocks this last month.

But, I did find a couple of tutorials on the web just by googling "Lemoyne Star" or "Easy Eight Point Star". I looked at them but thought the directions I had were easier, but if you are in a big hurry, there are some good ones too.

nope, not is a big hurry...i can wait until you are free to fine it..and are rested from your work. I also googled it..and din't find what i was looking for also. i even went to quilterscache, and its not there, unless it goes by another name. Thanks so much! Hope your move goes smooth as silk..!

The Lemoyne star is made similar to Sara's Choice It is the one my first quilt was made from. So easy!!

The second block is Chimneys and Cornerstones from Quilters Cache I'm pretty sure.

You could make it out of half-square triangles (HSTs).
