Default 1st quilt finished after Mom's passing

This is the first quilt I have finished since my Mom passed away in March. I have done a few small ones but not a big one. I just needed time to greave. My Mom would have said get up and get moving now. So I did. A Quilt Guild friend brought me this quilt that she made for her daughter. It is a Tumbling block design. Her daughter wanted Jungle design on the quilt. So a bought some great Safari designs that make a great long run. 5 designs all together. So I put the long one that puts all of them together on the big border, a great tiger cat design in the second one and then I drew in lion paws for the small border. Then there are 7 designs done in the big part of the quilt with a small jungle ground cover that I drew in. I also added a Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Elephant and Giraffe heads in the corners. I think it turned out great and I believe my Mom had a hand in it. I am so glad my Mom got the cross quilt I made her before she passed away. Dad even had it at the funeral near her. He is keeping it for him now. Anyway, I know many of you have experienced the loss of a loved one. So thank you all for looking at Marilyn's quilt. She will see her daughter next week while she is on a bus trip. Nothing better than to see their reaction. Thanks again.

I tried to get some pics of the designs but some are a little blurry. Sorry, I'm not to good with the camera sometimes.

You did a creatively great job on that quilting design! Pretty Quilt too. I understand what you're saying - my Dad recently passed and I'm making a quilt (well 4 of them, one for each of the kids) out of his shirts so we always have our Daddy's Hugs :-) It's therapy for me working on those - lots and lots of memories tied up in those shirts. Congrats on a job well done!!!

I think this is so nice, love the colors. Quilting is a great "peace" of Mind! Congrats on the finishing of the tumbling blocks. Give me inspiration to try to do a small one.

Very nice. Glad to see that you've picked yourself up and are moving forward again - I know it isn't easy.

You did a great job on the quilt.

I just finished a quilt in the colors my mom loved(purples) and it was in our local guild show this past weekend. I know how hard this is on you. It's still tough on me and my mom passed away a year ago. She absolutely loved all my quilts and wall hangings. It was great when I was stuck with a color combo cuz she could sit back and say I think this one is the one you should go with. Miss her everyday....it will get better for you, I promise. Let yourself grieve, it's so important to do that. Just take it one day at the time. Your quilt is beautiful...keep going ((((hugs)))))

Love the quilting - you did a great job on the tumbling blocks. I have always wanted to try that pattern, maybe some day. I agree with others, quilting is great therapy. My sympathy in the passing of your Mom, however, she will always be with you in your memories.

It is hard to go on when you have lost a love one, but your Mom would want you to make the best of the life she gave you. She would be very proud of the beautiful work you did on this very beautiful quilt.
