Default Carrot Sticks Log Cabin- A quilt top

Here is my first log cabin quilt - the intention was to use up some stash! All those strips of various oranges remind me of peeling carrots! This quilt was inspired by a pattern in the book called Log Cabin in the Round designs, but of course it took an entirely different direction than the pattern.

I searched high and low for a border from fabrics in my stash. I'm trying to not buy more fabric! Couldn't find anything, so found a great fabric online and ordered it. When it arrived, I loved the fabric but it looked awful with my quilt. It was too distracting. Discouraged, I rummaged through my stash once again (which is an exercise that can take hours), only to find this purple that was HIDING from me the first time around!
The size is 81" x 65", so about a twin size. There are 48 12" blocks. half the blocks are pieced to have the orange on the left, the other half are pieced to have the orange on the right.

That is fabulous. It is so well pieced. I wish I could be so neat with my piecing. I would be one happy lassy. The colours are amazing and truly work well together. Brilliant, thanks for sharing.

I rarely "name" quilts - but you nailed this one. Looks good enough to eat! Your purple border is perfect. Think of it this way - you got to visit all kinds of treasures in your search, probably came up with lots of ideas for the next project, and got some exercise too! Love it.
