Cat Quilt, Volume II
#1
Early this week I posted a pic of a cat quilt I made for my mom's friend. The consensus (and I agree) was that it was too juvenile for an older woman. So I ordered these Laurel Burch fabrics, and this is my second attempt at a cat quilt--same quilt pattern, different fabrics.
You can't see it very well in the pic, but the narrow border is purple and the outer border is black. The binding will be turquoise.
This doesn't really look like I expected it to. I think it has a vaguely African look to it. I like it fine--I'm just not sure what I expected. By the way, I HATE the yellow fabric in it!

I think it looks great Harmony! It may be that with the yellow being next to its compliment, purple, it's vibrating a bit too much for you - but I think the cat (& cat's mom  ) will love it. :D:D:D:D:D

I think you did a wonderful job. This quilt is so much more appropriate to the women you are giving it to. I think your use of the stripes gives the quilt character and the yellow is a very good accent color. I am always very sparing with my use of yellow but in that quilt is was necessary. When you do a full spectrum color quilt like this one is it is very important to put that splash of yellow.

I got it done fast because that's what I did all day instead of editing the oral surgeon's deposition I was SUPPOSED to be working on!
Thanks for all your nice comments. You all make me feel better about the yellow, which was actually the first companion fabric I chose for it.
I'm not sure how I'm going to quilt this yet. Wish I could afford to send it out to be done. I sure don't have the skills to machine quilt it, so I guess I'll have to do it by hand. Good thing Christmas is a ways down the road!
