Go with stitch in the ditch, it will highlight the quilt better then a lot of squiggling threads meandering nowhere!

Maybe do some intricate quilting with black thread in the borders, and then SITD everywhere else? I agree, let the braid and Celtic parts shine without adding distracting quilting.

You are right, the quilt has a beauty of its own, I made a similar braid quilt and I just "stitched in the ditch" always remember "Less Is More", as a suggestion maybe hand quilt around the Celtic Knot designs to make them "Pop".

The quilt is magnificent, the colours are stunning, it almost looks like a leadlight window, congratulations.
