My daughter recently moved into a new home, a townhouse in southern California. As a housewarming present I said I would make potholders, but she could pick the colors. Once we had that established I made potholders and placemats for Christmas. On the placemats I quilted "k"s, the first letter of her first name. It was the first time I've tried free stitching - what fun!

see the "k" pattern?

I like how you used the half-square triangles.
I end up with HST a lot of times from one of the quick piecing techniques so popular today.
Even the tiniest little HST looks attractive in the setting you have chosen <wave>

Finally getting some rain down here in So. Calif. Love the colors in the placemats and pot holders. You did a great job. I am sure your daughter will love them.

Those are so cute, what a great gift, something she can use daily and think of you. You are so sweet.

Very, very nice! Love the colors - love the stars. I hope to try something like that after the holidays.
