I quickly made this for our nephew for a wedding gift using scraps from Christmas projects. Since we need to travel from AL to PA for the wedding, and budget is tight, I came up with this solution for an economical gift they can use for their first Christmas together. I used two layers of cotton batting so it is like a giant potholder. It made hand quilting a little difficult to make tiny stitches, but I used matching threads so they don't show up too much.

Very pretty. My son just got married in October and they got some Christmas ornaments for wedding gifts. They were so happy because just starting out they didn't have much for their first Christmas. I am sure your gift will be wonderful for the your happy couple too.

Thanks everyone. I had this sudden inspiration and just hoped I had enough fabric. As I often do, it was kind of "design it as I go" and I kept holding my breath that something wouldn't come out right, but it did. The triangles on the ends were scraps trimmed from the "flying geese" blocks after I sewed the squares to the rectangles. So I needed the green borders to make them big enough to fill in the gap. Fun challenge! I knew if it didn't work, I could just keep it for myself.
