Default My version of Pine Burr quilt

I was intrigued when I saw a picture of a vintage Pine Burr quilt.
The Pine Burr is the official quilt of the state of Alabama.

What attracted me was the color, geometry and the faint memory that my granny did a few like those from scraps and used clothings (except the triangles are pointing inwards).

    Here is my version.

The leftover pieces, with some real crumbs (cut offs, scraps), I made into a chair pad for my little son.

Great way to use up those crumbs!

    Thanks for looking

I didn't use any instructions. I eyeballed it and then tried it out on one piece first. When I deem it feasible, I went on with 3 more. So my way may not be "authentic" or "authorized".

I used 2 inch squares, folded half into rectangle, and then folded the 2 sides down diagonally to form a triangle. Just go round and round, each round a different color. The trick is to design the color scheme before hand, so the result is pleasing to your eye.

I trimmed each pine burr to approx 18 inch square, then add sashings to it. I tacked it down to a backing. No batting is used behind the pine burr as they are already very heavy. But I did put batting under the sashings to add more body.

I found something online. You can check it out.
