Default Civil War Patriotic Log Cabin Quilt DONE!

Probably a year ago or longer I showed these central star blocks and asked for advice here on what to do with them. Before I could get answers I hit on the solution myself. They made great centers for these log cabin blocks in Civil War reproduction fabrics. My youngest son is a Civil War buff, so this was definitely his quilt! He is over six feet tall, so I made it very long. And wide. In fact, it's the biggest quilt I've ever made and did the quilting on my Juki2010Q. I prewashed the Warm and Natural cotton batting so the quilt wouldn't shrink so much on the first wash. He wanted it to remain soft and fluffy, so I only STID around the blocks, and outline stitched the stars. Simple quilting, busy quilt!

I made matching pillow shams, but actually like the look of the bed better with just the quilt on it. The photos don't have the pillow shams in them.

Hope you like the result!

Gorgeous Quilt! I would not have thought to mix the two designs but it turned out so bright and bold. I love all the fabrics you used.

I love your quilt,,, but I have a question. Your top star is pointing to the left, and so on. But the Friendship Star points to the right. So can anyone enlighted me on the differance.. or are they both named Friendship Star. I really light that star in its simplicity. One can always add to this block... Thanks. for showing your quilt,
