Hi, I'm currently stuck on what to do with the borders...although this pattern does not call for a border, I need to make the quilt bigger, so thought I would add :
1rst border blue 2"
2nd border either pinwheel or half square triangle 3.5"
3rd border plain black 5"
blue binding...

Which one do you prefer or do you have another idea for the second border...with all 3 borders, it will measure 72.5 x 80.75" which will be ok for a 2 person couch quilt.
Any suggestions more than welcome and greatly appreciated.

Incase anyone is wondering where the pattern came from, it is from McCall's May 2010 magazine called Paradigm Shift. Let me tell you can anyone say bias bias bias...wow nothing like using almost a bottle of starch....in the magazine they say the blocks are 8 5/8", but when it came time to trim my blocks before sewing them into the quilt top, I was able to trim them to 8 3/4"....

Thanks again for all your inputs....

I think that I like the first choice, but the second one would be OK, too.

Oh man, what a hard decision. Both borders look great! Which one? Maybe the second choice but then again the pinwheels are nice too. I'm no help!!!

I like the first choice. The second one seems to "pull" one direction and the border detracts from rather than frames the center. The first choice frames and doesn't pull your eyes away from the main part of the quilt. JMHO!

I think I like the pinwheels also...My fiance' wanted me to use a patterned black for the outside border but the center of the quilt is already busy enough and I think just a plain black works sooo much better.....

I have to agree Sylviak....the half square triangles do pull away from the quilt...never noticed that until I was looking at it online....
