its a rail fence...its strip pieced and depending on how you turn you blocks is how the color arrangement is set...its 6 colors, but that can be changed to accommodate your color choice...

You don't really need a pattern. The block is made up of 6 pieces and it is a square. If you make 1 inch finished strips x 6 inches you will have a 6 inch finished square. Strip piece them, cutting the strips 1.5 inch wide, then sub-cut 6.5 inch pieces. Turn them in a pleasing manner and sew them together. If you want it bigger, then upsize the width and the length to be a square and place together. Sizes I would suggest are cut 2", finishes at 1.5" x 6 = 9" finished block. The length cut would be 9.5" This is probably clear as mud. A 2.5 inch strip would give you 2 x 6 = 12 inch finished square.

Edited to add: This quilt looks like 1" finish strips and a 2" border.

You can't get an easier pattern than a rail fence. Probably 2" cut strips that will produce a 9" finished square and thus a 40" x 49" quilt with borders.

Looks like a basket weave quilt to me. I have made several and the fence rail too. There is a difference.

Thank you all for your comments and help. I made 2 of these years ago for 2 grand children, but both quits were lost in a fire. So now 4 grand children are grown and 2 are 2and 5 years young and one of them has a baby of their own. Now they all want one. They are easy to make and I love making them, lots of fun. OH!! and I just got a brand new Singer sewing machine so what better way to learn to use it?
