Default Denim Purse Lining

Here are a couple of pictures of a purse I tried to make. I got the outside and handles all put together I made the lining. Problem is, how can I attach the lining to the shell? Even my old Singer won't sew through around the base of the waste band. Any ideas?

Could you stitch just below the waistband where it it just 1 layer of denim? Use your zipper foot to get up close to the waistband & match your thread to the denim. Or hand stitch it (always a last resort for me but sometimes the best option!).

OMG I love your denim bag! I've been wanting to make one for a long time but keep forgetting to even try.

I will read replies to see how to manage your dilemma with the lining, I'm sure I'll have the same problem

Steam a seam or fusible might be the answer.

I would hand stitch the lining to the inside bottom of the waistband.(break out your thimble) It would look nice and finished and you could run a line of machine stitching down about 1/2 inch for security.

If I use my zipper foot and get up close to the waistband, how do I get over the belt loops? They're definitely too much for my machine. I am using a denim needle. I'm on my 2nd one, the first one got bent. Here is a picture of a belt loop on the back.
