Default Desert Shadows

I lived in Tucson, AZ for over 20 years in a housing development called ‘Desert Shadows” It’s been nearly 20 years since I moved away from the desert and I often think fondly of raising my 2 wonderful kids there. This quilt is a tribute to that time in my life. Of course the sun is central to the desert, thus the burning star in the center. In the afternoon, the sun light creates deep shadows around buildings, rocks and plants. Tucson has many dry, pebbled river beds and is surrounded by tall majestic mountains and foothills. All of these things are represented in this quilt.
Thanks for looking and sharing your thoughts!

Oh and what part of NC do you live in...as I am from NC too. Be looking to find someone near me who shares the love of quilting.

Absolutely gorgeous! I lived in Tucson 20 years ago, too, on Desert Sky Road, near the El Conquistador. Your quilt perfectly captures the feeling of the area. It is amazing.

Now that is my kinda quilting.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

I also love -
the original design and setting, and the fact that it's so personal,
the scrappy back,
and did I mention the quilting!??!?!?!?!?!?!

Your quilting on this took my breath away! Outstanding. I love how each element of the quilting means something and your placement of every element works so well. I love it!
