    Default Desert Sky

This throw-sized quilt pattern was given to me by a friend last summer and I finally had time to try it. I'm going to do a second one; I experienced some learning issues that I hope to resolve in the next one, but I love the quilt and the experience. The pattern is called Desert Sky by Judy Neimeyer Quilting. It's paper piecing, which is a newer skill for me; I have only done paper piecing once before. I had fun figuring out my quilting motifs; finally went with outlines and heat ray-type lines. I also drew in the pattern in the blank squares and quilted them just like the pieced patches. One other learning experience for this quilt; I couldn't use the BSR because it was objecting to the use of two different weights, two differing fibers. So I did it all free-hand. Hope you enjoy looking at it!
