Default Diamond Shaped Hexie Quilt

I thought I would post this. I was waiting until I quilted it but alas I haven't got to that point yet. Took me months but I enjoyed every minute of it. Now I am working on another hexie quilt in black and white.

That is very pretty and colorful. Is this all hand done? Do you put a backing and batting on?

It is all hand pieced with 1" hexies. I will be putting batting and backing on it. It measures as a lap quilt.

Gorgeous! I think it deserves to be hand quilted. Are you up for that?

Oh my word, I LOVE it!!! I so want to make something like that. I just have such a thing for rainbow type quilts but I have never make hexies before so this seems very intimidating for me. Is there a good tutorial on how to do something like this? You have an impressive collection of fabrics there. Are those regular cottons or batiks? I've made a few rainbow quilts (one batik and one regular cotton with lots of fabric left over still) and it requires buying a lot of fabric to get the various colors and enough variety. Unfortunately, I purchased a lot of prints that had too much other color and I realized after the fact that it is better to get mostly tone on tone types. Great job.
