Hi all, this is the quilt I've been working on over Christmas holiday, finally finished. I used the D4P tutorial on this board and loved the idea thinking it would be great for some precut batiks I bought over the summer. And I love to do applique but had not tried raw-edge. Naturally I decided to give it a whirl since it's much faster than the satin stitch I usually do. I've been quilting lots of years, so I am aware of the many, many problems in this quilt. The applique issues and quilting stitches don't bother me half as much as the unmatched corners! Apparently, the adage "measure twice, cut once" should be engraved on my studio wall!

It's beautiful, how do you do the raw edge? Do you do it by machine?

I did applique by machine. I used a heavy duty fusible web to cut out the pieces, then ironed them in place. While quilting, I stitched about 1/8 inch inside the edges. Well, I tried, but I wasn't very successful. I'll go back to satin stitch.

Thanks for the comments.

okay that is really gorgeous. i saw a tutorial on here on that 4-patch thing, but it didn't look like that at all. do you just cut the 4-patch twice then. love your quilt.

Beautiful quilt! Mismatched corners? I've looked all around and didn't see the 'quilting police', so there is no problem! Just enjoy your quilt!

Great quilt! I also need help with the .... "measure twice, cut once" - I usually reverse it :-(
