Disappearing Hourglass

Disappearing Hourglass
I watched Jenny Doan's video on this and it looked so easy! Boy, was I surprised. After making the first block and having to trim it waaaaay down to get it square, I pulled myself together and was extremely careful with my seams. That didn't help much - all of those diagonal edges, no matter how careful I was not to stretch them, made everything all wonky again. Ended up only making 4 blocks before I tore all of my hair out. After adding a couple of borders to get it up to size, it's now a carseat quilt.

I love it and your message made me laugh out loud! I made a quilt called "Simply Woven" from Moda Bake Shop. It was 48 blocks and I never got them to match so I gave it to a guild that makes quilts for charity. They loved it! Go figure!

You know, I was so excited about this tutorial and pattern. Bought a special layer cake pack for it but decided to do a sample block. Very glad I did because I had a heck of a time with the block - it came out wonky as all get out. So many bias surfaces. Decided I wasn't happy with the results and it would be nothing but aggravation for me. It was disappointing because I truly love the look of the block. The layer cake pack has been tucked away with the rest of my stash for now.
