I did a normal nine patch with the "I Spy" fabrics in the four corners, bright yellow in the center and black for the middle squares. I then cut them apart and instead of twisting around, I laid them out in a traditional manner. I had to make the lattice and squares for one side and the top. Easy to do, without lots of small pcs.

That is awesome. Had to look at it twice (ok, to be honest 4 times) and read your post a couple of times to "see" how you did that. Great job...I recently came into some I spy sqares....hmmmm, just might have to copy.......
