Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos is celebrated every year in late fall. It is a day of remembrance and is very happy. Families go to cemeteries and paint and clean up and put flowers. Some stay all night as a vigil and recall memories of loved ones. In homes, altars are put up with bright yellow and orange flowers and pictures of dearly departed. I always put one up with pictures of my mom and mom in law. I tell my grandkids about my mom and things we did and things she said. It is a nice way to remember the wonderful people we had in our lives. We had a great celebration on this last one with the art show. We had home-made tamales and wore beautiful Mexican costumes and admired each other work. It was a terrific day to look at old photographs and laugh at old stories.
