Dotty has consistently sent me quilts every months or so....I think it's great!

I can always tell when I have beginner quilter because every quilt is so different....she has sent me a different type and style of quilt almost every month...and the reason for that? Usually it's because a newer quilter is making quilts for all the people she loves...and therefore we are trying to pick out colors for our loved ones and patterns that meet their personality so every quilts is different. She has sent repro fabrics, newer modern , baby...now we are into the batiks..LOVE THEM ALL!
I found after I had made a quilt for all of my closest friends and family that all the while I had been collecting my favorite collections in my stash....what colors were lacking in my stash?? Blue and gray. Have you thought about that?

Anyway... the one batik quilt I quilted my favorite earthy ferns and finished it with a fern border. I never tire of that design.

The other quilt is for a man...and he likes plants. She wanted kind of rounded oval leaves.
I decided to have them follow the lines of the pinwheels because then it would create the design within a design. I put veins in all the leaves and I love the way it turned out.

    I used hobbs polydown batting...

I quilted this on my INNOVA. No computer or pantograph quilting.
    Thanks for looking.

Those are beautiful quilts! You are right about beginner quilters always being generous.

Beautiful quilts...your quilting is always so complementary to the quiltmaker's concept. The leaves within the pinwheels give a very geometric pattern a hidden "organic" look - this will be much admired and appreciated by a plant-lover. Thanks for sharing with us.
