Default Finished my daughter's quilt!

I finished her quilt! This was a scrappy pattern from American Quilting Magazine- from Better Homes and Gardens. I was working on this for months and finished it the day before her 4th birthday party. I wasn't much of a surprise since I had been asking her what she wanted the whole time. I don't have much of a stash yet, so we bought fat quarters for this a few at a time, and I let her pick them out. I asked her what color thread and preset stitch designed she wanted me to use. I used them in some of the sashing areas, but them tried my hand at FMQ for the first time in the patterned sections. It wasn't great, but certainly respectable enough for my first attempt at it- you can kind of see some on the quilting on the picture of the back. I also put the date in one block since I plan to make her more quilts through the years.

Really cute, and what a great memory your daughter will have of helping you make her quilt! She is destined to be a quilter too.

During those times when it was still at my machine, she would sit down and ask if she could work on it. I did let her run the foot peddle on a couple of the sections, that was an interesting experience, but since I was FMQ then, I could still control what was going on pretty well.

Beautiful scrappy. No matter how many you make her, this is one she will never forget.

I like it. She will always treasure it and will be quilting herself before you know it.
