Default an early Mariner's Compass.

This is my second Mariner's compass. I'm posting it because people in another thread were wondering how hard they are to do. They are the great joy of paper piecing. You do need to be exact with your seams, but they are not terrible to do. My first, which I can't find right now I made in 2002 when I was a newbee to quilting. My teacher's dying husband complained that he had never had one because she didn't like them. 2 days later, I delivered it to him, along with a batch of my secret recipe oatmeal cookies. It turned out that he could not keep much of anything down EXCEPT the cookies, so of course I had to make him more. He was a dear friend to us.

The flaws are obvious, but it sold at auction for good money.

Can't agree with you about the flaws.......perhaps too self-critical -- this is a wonderful quilt! The feathers are a delight and perfect for your piece. Glad to hear that folks who bid on it realized how much artistry, thought and tme went into this lovely piece.

Thank you. If I'd had the good sense to make the background match the Pped background, it would have looked much better. today, I would 'adjust' imperfect points so there wouldn't be a problem.

How kind of you to do the first one for someone so ill...not to mention the special treatment with the cookies. Wonderful.
