clever idea and it looks really great. I love EPP and done several quilts using this technique.

GFG is Grandmother's Flower Garden.
EPP is English Paper Piecing.

Oh yes, this is the the soccer ball template. I guess one could choose fabrics of higher or lower contrast depending on how "soccer ball" you want it to look
