Family Heirloom

The hand appliqued butterfly blocks were made by my Granny and Aunt. They were found by my cousin when she was cleaning out a closet in her parents home after they passed away. She asked me to finish the quilt for her. This is what I came up with. The original blocks, as you can see are from the '30 or '40. You can see the original printing on the muslin
sugar sacks. And I can assure you that the fabric was quite old. I loved finishing this piece of history for my family.

What a special quilt. I love the butterflies and how it's set it together and quilted. Great job and what a treasure to have.
I found some butterfly blocks after Mama passed away two years ago. She had them all appliqued and ready to set together and in a box with the pattern and her needle and thread. I still haven't gotten them set together and quilted as I can't seem to focus on it like I want to and do it justice.
