    Default Family heirloom thread

Hi all, sassy08 had a great idea to share our family heirloom quilts. Feel free to share yours as well.

My grandmother made this quilt for my father. She hand embroidered each square with one for each state. The are of the state bird and flower, the entire quilt was hand quilted. I also have her wood loom.

These two have been posted previously, but not recently. My grandmother was a hand quilter. When I finally started quilting 2+ years ago, I couldn't follow suite, so I treasure these. I wore out the first one out and she was so pleased that a quilt she made was well used that she made me another. These would be from the mid 50s - I recognize fabrics from my dresses from the 40s. The worn one is being cut up and framed - one for me and one for each child who wants one. The GFG is displayed in my living room.

Yes you can. Reply in normal way .go advanced. And select the camera roll . Select photograph only one . Look on the right side of screen in same section as you've just been in. Press down load. And wait below you will see it loading. Don't move from that area until it is loaded. Close window. Submit reply. Should come up.

I wish I could. My sweet but unaware Mom let us play with great great granmother's quilt until they were destroyed. fortunately the up to 200 year old baby clothes got gentler treatment and are now in a museum.
