This is another Family Heritage Treasure of mine, made by my Great-Great-Great Grandmother in the year 1840. It again had been handed down through the years (just the top/not quilted) in a pillowcase. My mother gave it to me one day saying, "Here, maybe you can do something with this, to perserve it". This project was the "beginning and start" of my quilting adventures, in my life today.

If you haven't already seen it .... take a look at an earlier posting: "Family Heritage Displayed on Living Room Wall" - I posted on January 6, 2011 .... done by this same GGG Grandmother.

RNUNU

Made a Wall Quilt Hanger from an old dresser "witherspoon".

The tiny squares are little "1-inch squares", all hand sewn together, that made this quilt top.

Close-Up shows all the "hand quilting" work that was done, to help preserve this treasure.

This is the label I put on the back of this Treasure ... that tells the history and story behind The Postage Stamp Quilt.

Wow, that is amazing hand quilting! I'd really like to know when our grandmothers had the time to do this!

That's a beautiful quilt. You are very fortunate to have such wonderful, priceless, family heirlooms. Love the quilt hanger. What a clever idea.
