I week or so ago I posted pictures of the 5 quilts I've done for my 5 granddaughters for Christmas, with quilts for 2 grandsons (ages 3 and 4) left to go. I decided to do flannel rag quilts for them, and finished one of them last weekend. At first, I was not happy with it, but it's growing on me. What do you all think?

close up. I tried to have a "doggy" theme

back side. Looks like a parchesi board!

Rag quilt with a real pattern and not just squares... I'd never have thought of that. It's brilliant! I like it.

I think it'a really cute. You're the first person I've seen that did a real pattern instead of simple squares on a rag quilt.

They look wonderful to me. The grandsons should love them. The texture adds a lot when they cuddle up with them.

The 'doggy theme' is great! I am really beginning to like all of the rag quilts I see. Love the way you have used a 'pattern' and the back makes it reversible....2 for 1. Awesome job!

I "attended" an online webinar that Penny Halgren did on rag quilts, and that's where I got the idea. You just have to make your pattern really big! The 4 big pattern blocks on this are 20 inch squares. The smaller blocks are 5", with 3/4" seams. The intersections of the HSTs were kind of cumbersome, however.
