Thanks to everyone else's post here, I got some great ideas. We used two foam insulation boards and cut them down to 6' x 8'. We taped them in the center and covered it with batting. I used office supply clamps to make it taut and secure. It is suspended from the ceiling beams (sewing area is in my basement). When I don't need it and want the view from the windows, I can just fold it, lift it up and attach the entire wall to the ceiling so it is completely out of the way. He used large clamps to hold the wall in suspension so it is completely portable - if I want to take it down and move it to another room, it's very easy. Nothing fancy (neither is my sewing room) but it sure serves its purpose.

Wait! I thought you said your sewing room ' isn't fancy'.... is that a long arm I see peeking around the corner of your photo?...
VERY FANCY!, oh, and your design wall looks great! I'm going to have to take a look at foam insulation boards next trip to Home Depot.

Wow, that's a great idea! Love the way you can lift it out of the way if you aren't using it. :D

LOL. Yes it is a long arm. I meant my storage units, shelving etc aren't fancy. DH made everything except for my two sewing tables and cutting table and it is all out of scraps. But as I said, it is practical and everything serves its purpose. One of my favorite units is the removable shelves he made for my rubber stamps. Before, I didn't know where anything was. Now I have a notebook, and each page is numbered and has pictures of what stamps are on each shelf.

They are handy to have! I was eyeballing them at a quilt show recently and decided I couldn't spend $150.00 on one. My DH and I put one together with PVC and I used cotton batting for the board. I can take it apart to store it or just slide it against another wall. We put it together for under 20 bucks. I read somewhere of a woman who stapled one to her wall. That suggestion didn't go over so well with DH. :)

Very clever! I am green with envy. I pin my blocks to a sheet that I hang in front of the sliding door. I have to watch the pis so the doods don't get stuck!
