Hello ladies i made the 9 square project i wanted to use it as a back ground but decided against it because i do like the look of it i am hoping to make a table runner instead but i am not sure whether i should sew in the ditch or each side of the seam with 1/4" your advise would be very much appreciated.
PS there are quite a few seam as you can see

Stitch in the ditch would look nice and should be fairly easy.

Stitch in the ditch and then 'X' across the large square pieces.

    Looks nice!

I also agree with stitch in the ditch but also wanted to say it is very pretty. :)

This is what I see. Stitch in the ditch around the inside borders. Use a chalk marker to draw an X and stitch on the X. That should be enough quilting to hold it together.

I would quilt it from edge to edge - the only lines that might need to be drawn would be in the border -

The excess quilting would get cut off when the runner is trimmed up for the binding.

i like stitching around each square - i don't think stitch in the ditch shows very well - just my own opinion...But i'm also one that likes lots of quilting!

on the border of a quilt i did - one i did cross hatching, another i just stitched straight lines 1 inch apart on a 45 degree diagonal from the main part of the quilt
