I did the blocks as a Stack/Whack/Shuffle class in August. It was meant to be a Christmas present for my Mother. It ended up being a late Christmas/Birthday present for her. I had the top finished in the fall as well as the quilting done very close to Christmas. I was not motivated to do the handstiching on the binding. I hate this finishing task. I just sat down today and finshed the last side an a half! My Mom received this today and already seeing it she was happy with it as its her colors!

It is lovely. I must admit hand stitching the binding to the back of a quilt is not one of my favourite tasks either. I still do it, if it is to be exhibited but if not....I used the tip from this board on machine binding. It is the one where you make a flange, sew it to the back of the quilt, flip it to the front and stitch in the ditch. It is the nicest machine stitched binding I have done.

I love it. My first quilt was a stack, whack and shuffle. Aren't they fun?

Yes they are fun. This was my 2nd completed quilt top. I have advanced a bit since then as I enjoy trying everything I see. Next up is one of the borella (spelling ?) quilts I see lots of people posting.

I'm with Tartan on machine binding or birthing a quilt (also called envelope style). Binding just takes too dang long. Of course your mom has the good taste to like this sweet quilt.
