    I was trying to throw away this red pre-patched fabric last year, that I had bought in the 1990s for some undone project/idea. But I loved the fabric and didn't want to discard it. I quickly flipped thru a book for an idea,and saw a simple square in a square pattern, and decided to try it big size!

    I don't have a long arm, but used my walking foot to machine quilt the middle square. Then worked my way outward as below:

    The plain sections were boring so I decided to try some hand stitched sachiko style designs with colored thread on it for interest, and am quite pleased with my results. Thought you might enjoy seeing my "unconventional" project.
