A few have asked about this pattern. It is by Atkinson Designs and is called Fire Escape. I've seen it in lots of quilt shops and it is also available on-line. If you do a Google search for 'Fire Escape quilt " and select IMAGES you'll see it in lots of colors - that's always fun!

Prissnboot,
You piece the "step" blocks, the ones with the white squares + print, then add the rectangles of the prints to create strips. The strips are fairly wide, nearly 6". The directions are great; I've liked every pattern I've ever used from Atkinson Designs.
