Now that the Victory quilt is done, it's time to start the project requested by my principal. If you remember I told you she asked me to make this for her mom. Originally her mom was going to make this as a one year anniversary gift for her, but it never got any further than cutting out the hundreds of hexagons. That was in the 70's! (and it looks like it too - yes?)

Any way, I need some advice: I have a few sewn together, but I'm not sure how to connect them. I laid some of the other colors not top. Any ideas??

Wow, so many views, and no opinions? I know, I don't like it much either... This would never be my choice of fabrics, just trying to make an older lady happy with something she had begun more than 20 years ago. No ideas?

I like the second choice better.

The green is overpowering so I think you should tone it down with softer colors in the middle. Maybe a yellow or even an off-white. Just my HO

You could put diamond shaped pieces in between the groups, maybe a solid light green....or a pretty blue, like you're looking at them against the sky...

I like the idea of using a softer color for the in between 3 piece. It would give the eye some rest. I love the colors for the flowers.

On photo 2 - where the red is... that will be the background and I would have the same colour right throughout... a rich cream for instance... !!!

i agree that a cream would look better than the other colors shown.

What about a white in between and the green as little borders, like the cover of this book (explains it better):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grandmothers...915002&sr=1-12

or

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grandmas-Qui...7915127&sr=1-6

I agree the green as is is too aggressive.
