wait until you have everything joined to remove your papers, it holds everything (bias edges) square and stable for working with.
and, when you do go to remove your papers, sometimes it helps to spritz with a little water, if you are having a hard time. place a finger(or thumb) on the edge of the stitches before pulling on the paper so you do not pull your stitches apart.

After I sew a couple of blocks together (with the papers left on) I check to see if there will be any little bits of paper buried in hard to reach places (usually in the intersections.)
If there are, I only remove those little pieces before continuing to sew the blocks together :D:D:D
