I really like your quilt. I love the ties, and they remind me of those I slept under at my grandmothers house.

My ties are tough as nails..I have another I made years ago, plus made one for each of my kids. They are all still in use and holding up well. Some people like to use crochet thread, but I use worsted yarn...here's a funny..as taught by two nice ladies in a historical museum on Ocracoke, Outer Banks, NC. They advised going trough twice with needle and yarn, then tying a double knot.
