Do you trace the outline on first, or just practice and sew these wonderful roses freehand?

I have The Rose Vine pantograph pattern. It really looks good (very similar to your FMQ work)! It's very popular!

I've made them on borders before so not too much, give it a try they are really easy. I start with a spiril and work my way out.
