Found in a fabric stash!
#1
I picked up 10 trash bags of fabric from a "downsizing to Assisted Living" donation to our quilt guild. In among the fabric were these 2 quilt tops. I am hoping someone can help me figure out the approximate age of these tops based on the fabrics?
They will be going to guild members who work with old(er) and fragile quilts, or getting raffled off at our show next month - I don't know.
the individual blocks are mostly hand-sewn, but the quilts were assembled by machine. I was not able to speak to the owner of the fabric or the quilt tops, as her daughter-in-law and granddaughter were taking care of getting her house ready for sale (and getting rid of various items), so I don't know the provenance of the tops.

I just checked your blog. Some of those fabrics look to be late 19th-early 20th century.
Very interesting!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D
I have a couple of books on antique quilt fabrics and have used them a lot for dating fabrics. I also love old quilts.
