Actually someone here on this board has done it this way...I know I've saved it in my bookmarks...will have to look for the post... Ok it's not the exact block but it gives you the general idea using fusible. Here is a post doing just that with the rise and shine block.

I made one using Eleanor Burns method..turned out GREAT! I don't like PP either!
Btiny36, Thanks for pointing out the tutorial. I love her Rise and Shine pattern. Really want to make one. Maybe I will put together a kit for this today and have it ready when I can make something for myself.
