I got this quilt in the frame yesterday and started the quilting this morning. It is all hand pieced and appliqued and is queen size. There are 30 of the applique blocks. I don't remember when I started this but I had to put the 2 long sides on Sunday night so it would be ready for the frame. I used fabric in my stash for the backing and I had a roll of batting also. The border is being quilted with an off-white thread and is done in a pattern similar to rail fence (I got lucky and it all worked out perfectly around the quilt). The appliques will be quilted around with black and the setting triangles will also be off-white.
I'm going to Joann's tomorrow to get black quilting thread and another roll of batting...gotta use those coupons and keep my name on the mailing list!
I'm in no hurry to get this one done. It will just be added to my growing pile of quilts for another time.
Time to build those calluses on my fingers again!

Your quilt is beautiful. That is going to take a while to hand quilt.

I haven't used black thread for hand quilting but when I use it for machine quilting it leaves a lot of lint. What type of black thread do you use? Thanks.

I don't know what kind of black thread I will use. Mostly I have used Coats & Clark before so I kinda think that may be it. Will have to see what JoAnn's has or may "have" to visit LQS!
Thanks for all the kind words about this quilt.

Kathy, I also hand quilt. When I first read your post I thought to myself "Why would she machine quilt something she hand-pieced?"
Glad I didn't ask lol :D
It's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
