Smile My First Quilt!

This is a picture of my first quilt top. The pattern is called Patched Fence which I found in Weekend Quilts & Pillows by Deborah Hearn. The pattern made a 76" square; however, I wanted it to fit my California King, with a 12" drop on each side. So I increased it to 114"W x 102"L. I know I made mistakes and it isn't perfect; however, I love it and can't wait to quilt it. Which does bring me to a dilemma. I just have a regular sewing machine. I have a feeling this is going to give me major gray hair!!

Excellent first quilt! I have quilted a jumbo queen on a regular little Brother machine from Walmart. It wasn't easy but it is done.

You might try looking at Quilting in Sections by Marti Michell. It's a book, but you can also find online videos to give you the idea. It might make it easier for you to get it done.

You are braver than I am. I'd probably hand quilt it before I'd attempt to quilt it on my regular machine. I love the quilt by the way.

That is amazing! Hard to believe this is your first quilt! I don't see any mistakes either. I love to quilt but have no patience to hand quilt my creations and I have no idea how to get it done on my sewing machine so I confess to having someone else quilt them for me. I still love them though. Good luck with your quilting!!

I have no patience for handquilting either. I am meeting with a lady I met at Joanne's who teaches quilting. I am sure she will guide me in the right direction.
