How wonderful that your Gma's quilt is cherished and respected. She would be pleased for sure and what a lovely quilt you made in memory of her ~ another family heirloom.

Thanks so much everyone, Yes I do have fond memories of her and I was very blessed to have her as a Grandmother :P .

Sally: quilt was made in New Zealand but I suspect some of the fabrics would be American as we don't have a cotton Industry of our own. I'm really not very up with the play on fabric history so don't really know what the origins of the fabrics would be.

I'm sure your Grandmother would be proud to see the beautiful quilt you made in her honor and to know that you cherish and share the one she made!

What a beautiful memoir. And wonderful creation story to go with it. Make sure you pass both on together :) You are very talented! Thanks for sharing.

Shelly, thanks so much for sharing those wonderful quilts. They're beautiful work and your heart is so big and loving. You put your heart into the one you made and that just increases the beauty 100fold. I was very close to "MiMi", my grandmother, and I would love to have something she made. But alas! she didn't do needlework for pleasure--just necessity like hems, etc. I read your post just after our granddaughter left us to return to Houston--in tears. I have always planned to make her another quilt besides the baby quilt I've already made, and now with her leaving in tears, I'm ready to start her next one. Virginia
